Created by Andrew Sodroski, Jim Clemente, and Tony Gittelson, the Spectrum (previously Discovery Channel) drama anthology series ‘Manhunt’ chronicles the fictionalized versions of high-profile criminal cases. Initially meant to be a miniseries about the Unabomber, positive responses from the audience convinced the producers to make a full-fledged TV series. The second season, titled ‘Manhunt: Deadly Games’, was released in February 2020. It depicts the Centennial Olympic Park bombing of 1996 and focuses on two key individuals associated with the case, Eric Rudolph (Jack Huston), the real perpetrator, and Richard Jewell (Cameron Britton), the erroneously suspected man who became the victim of a media witch hunt despite saving countless lives that day by alerting the authorities and taking part in the civilian evacuation....

Netflix’s ‘Enola Holmes 2’ adds more layers to its titular character’s story and delivers an engaging mystery in the form of her first case (second, technically!). There are a lot of dimensions to the case that Enola handles. It puts her in the crosshairs with some very powerful people as well as law enforcement. She learns a lot of lessons along the way, which makes her even more adamant about proving her worth and making a name for herself, instead of just staying in the shadows of her well-known name, which is associated only with her famous brothers or her infamous mother....

Directed by Lance Daly, ‘Black ’47’ is a revenge drama set in 19th century Ireland. In ‘Black ’47’, circa 1847, an Irish Ranger, Martin Feeney, serving in the British Army abroad, returns home to find his family at death’s door. Feeney embarks on a rampage of mayhem and murder of those who have wronged him and his slain family. Hannah, a disgraced British army veteran, is tasked with capturing Feeney, even as a famine rages in the background....

Director Charlotte Wells’s ‘Aftersun’ is a drama movie set in the late 90s and told through a series of video recordings. The film revolves around Sophie, an eleven-year-old girl who visits Turkey on vacation with Calum, her father, who will soon turn thirty-one. The film explores a father and daughter’s relationship as Sophie tries to understand the person Calum was apart from being a father. As a result, we get a peak at the several struggles of adulthood Calum faces but tries to hide from Sophie....

‘Emily the Criminal’ is an indie crime thriller movie that marks John Patton Ford’s debut as a feature film director. It follows the titular character, looking for a job to repay her student loan. However, due to a minor criminal record, Emily (Aubrey Plaza) cannot get good work, and her situation worsens. In a desperate attempt to make easy money, she gets into the illegal business of dummy shopping and goes down a dark path that changes her life forever....
